Final Exam Schedule: Spring 2021
Rutgers University-Newark FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE: SPRING 2021 (REMOTE INSTRUCTION)
Please consult the Online Schedule of Classes (https://sis.rutgers.edu/soc/#home) to determine the examination code associated with a course. Exam codes are as follows:
|F||Math (common exam)|
|J||Biology (common exam)|
|T||Asynchronous Course w/ Synchronous Exam|
COMMON EXAMS: Courses with multiple sections and a group exam code (F, J) will have exams according to the times indicated on the Final Exam grid. Common examination locations are provided by the course instructor.
EXAMPLE: 21:120:101-81, 82, 83, and 84
NON-PATTERN EXAMS: Courses that do not meet during standard meeting times have exams according to their first lecture time. If a class meets once a week during the day, or meets in the evenings at nonstandard times, follow the exam schedule for the first meeting day/time. See below for an example.
|Non-Pattern Meetings||Exam Held With…|
|MW 8:30 am – 9:50 am||MTh 8:30 am – 9:50 am|
|T 11:30 am – 2:20 pm||TTh 11:30 am – 12:50 pm|
|W 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm||MW 4:00 pm – 5:20 pm|
PATTERN EXAMS: Courses that meet during standard time combinations have exams according to the times scheduled on the Final Exam grid. Pattern examinations are held where the course met during the semester, unless an alternate location is provided by the course instructor. See below for an example.
|WF 11:30 am – 12:50 pm||Friday – May 7th|
|MTh 1:00 pm – 2:20 pm||Monday – May 10th|
|MW 4:00 pm – 5:20 pm||Wednesday – May 12th|
BY ARRANGEMENT EXAMS: For courses with a “By Arrangement” exam code (A), students must check with the course instructor for specific final exam information.
Courses which are now remote-asynchronous and where the instructor requires a synchronous final exam must make a request to have a remote synchronous exam scheduled.
If a student has a conflict where more than two exams are scheduled within a 24 hour time period, or more than two exams are scheduled in consecutive periods (ex: one exam from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, followed by an exam from 6:20pm – 9:20pm, followed by an exam the following morning from 8:30am – 11:30am), the faculty member(s) are required to provide a make-up exam day and time. The faculty member should contact their respective department/school contact who will work in accordance with Academic Scheduling as needed.
A priority order is set with number one being the top priority in terms of resolving exam conflicts with courses held in different instructional formats:
- Synchronous Course Meeting Exams
- All courses with a set meeting day and time pattern during the semester which have a synchronous final exam held on a specific day and time
- Group Exams
- Common Exams
- By Arrangement Final Exams
- Online in-person exams offering a synchronous final exam are currently optional but it must follow the date and time as indicated on this schedule.
- A student with three exams with equivalent priority (e.g., three group exams or three synchronous course exams) in a 24-hour period will try to reschedule one of the exams as a make-up. If the professors involved do not volunteer to give a make-up exam for such a student, then the instructor for the middle exam must schedule a make-up exam at an appropriate alternate date/time.
Students must bring final exams conflicts to the attention of their academic advisor/academic deans at least two weeks before the first final exam day in order to ensure that the final exam conflicts can be resolved.
